The Sarbanes-Oxley Act (SOX) has fundamentally changed today’s business and regulatory environment, requiring public companies to develop new practices involving corporate governance and financial reporting with the objective of restoring the public trust in the capital markets. Public companies must now take full responsibility for implementing and maintaining an effective system of internal control, in addition to reporting on the system’s effectiveness on an annual basis. The SOX regulations require that all public companies become “compliant” at all cost. The objective of entech’s Compliance Practice is not to make a corporation compliant – that is the role of management, along with their external auditors. The entech practice seeks to make the process of executing the policy more efficient – both from a cost and a resource standpoint – with the ultimate goal of achieving lower risk. These objectives are accomplished by applying accepted Best Practices to the IT consultancy and systems integration skills of entech. Emphasis is placed on the application of state-of-the-art software, particularly in those instances where manual or non-integrated IT systems are actively deployed. To this end, entech has published the IT Compliance Point of View, which was designed for business and information technology executives, as well as auditors, CPAs, attorneys and venture capitalists, who have a direct or indirect responsibility for ensuring efficient, low risk compliance to regulations and industry standards. The en technologies Compliance Matrix lists key national and global regulations. |
